Sweden’s Carl Pettersson posted a three-under 67 on Sunday to come from behind and win the Canadian Open at St. George’s Golf & Country Club.
Pettersson finished at 14-under 266 and won by a single stroke over third- round leader Dean Wilson, who squandered a four-shot overnight lead with a two-over 72 on Sunday.
“I can’t believe it,” said Pettersson in a television interview. “I thought I missed the cut. Shooting 60 yesterday and playing so well on the back nine here was incredible.”
Pettersson made the cut on the number Friday and went out early Saturday and fired a 10-under 60. he had a decent look at the magical 59 on the 18th hole, but narrowly missed his birdie putt.
Pettersson earned his fourth PGA Tour victory and first since the 2008 Wyndham Championship. he pocketed $918,000 for the win.
Luke Donald shot a four-under 66 in the final round to finish in third at minus-12.
It was a wild second nine for Pettersson that got him the victory.
